Sri V.K. Singh, IPS a native of Bihar joined theIndian Police Service in 1987 and allotted to united A.P. Cadre. He served as AssistantSuperintendent of Police Narsipatnam and Nizamabad as Superintendent ofPolice Medak and Anantapur Districtsas Deputy InspectorGeneral Kurnool Range as Inspector General of Police Visakhapatnam Region as Addl. Commissioner ofPolice Hyd. He worked in Greyhounds and achieved outstanding performance. Hewas also worked as HoD of Legal Metrology.

He was on deputation to Bihar and set up SpecialTask Force and achieved outstanding results in the field of Naxalism,kidnapping and anti-mafia operations. He joined Prison Department as DG Prisonsand Correctional Services in the year 2014, after the re-organization of theState, he is allotted to Telangana State Cadre and continued in PrisonsDepartment. He brought many innovative experiments like corruption-free jails,Vidyadaanam, Maha Parivarthan, Health Schemes, and Ayurvedic Village, etc.,which brought radical changes in the Prison Dept.

He was awarded IndianPolice Medal forMeritorious Service in 2004 and President's Police Medal for Distinguished Servicein 2013. He is also a thinker andwriter. He has written the book “Is it Police - Confessions of top Cop”.  The book has become a best seller and takento be one of the best books written on Police.

He joined the RBVRR T.S. Police Academyas Director on September 19, 2019.
